Open up the “goto” folder dialouge box while saving.

Do you ever know where you want to save something, and really don’t feel like taking your hands off the keyboard to navigate to the proper location? Well, you can open the goto folder dialogue box.

Use the save as option when saving your file (File > Save As), once the save menu opens up, push Command+Shift+G (the command key is the apple key). This will bring up a new window that will let you type in the location that you want to go to.

For instance, if you wanted to go to your documents folder I would type:

/Users/jschnell/Documents

the folder after the users folder is the name you used with your account. In my case its jschnell.

Try it out! It works like a charm.

You can also use this from your desktop view to open a finder window in the location you specify.
