Netflix iOS app gets video-out support

Netflix has been out in Canada for a little over a week, and I can already feel Rogers hating me. It’s awesome. Every time I bring down another episode of Mad Men to my Apple TV, I let out a cheer inside, knowing full well that I’m pounding their network just a little bit harder now.

Apple TV has Netflix support, and iOS has Netflix support, but until yesterday, you were unable to use TV-out with the Netflix application on your iPad or iPhone, meaning you were unable to connect your iPad to your TV and use your iPad to stream the content. Thankfully, it’s a problem no longer, as Netflix has updated their iOS applications to work with the TV-out functionality of the iPad.

You’ll need to pick up an Apple Component AV Cable from Amazon or your local Apple Store.

It has me seriously wondering why I just picked up an Apple TV, considering the Apple TV doesn’t have any support for TV show rentals or purchases in Canada.  The Apple TV definitely has the advantage of being connected to my television permanently, and I’m loving every second of it, so don’t get me wrong. But, if you can’t fork out the $99.00 and already have an iPad or iPhone,  you’ve got yourself some options.
