Instagram iOS Update Brings Video Importing

Instagram made a blog post earlier today revealing what new features users should expect from its upcoming 4.1 update. The big reveal is that Instagram will be getting video import capabilities, giving it a unique offering over twitter’s Vine.

iOS users will now be able to import videos straight from their camera roll and will then be able to edit them down to short 15 second clips.

Starting today you can upload videos from your phone’s media library and share those moments to Instagram regardless of when they were captured. Once you select the video clip you’d like to import, you can trim it down to the exact part you like best. We’ve also made it so that you can choose how you square-crop your clip so you can keep the action front and center.

The update also brings some other new features, such as photo straightening and video support for users on Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich.

Expect the update to hit sometime in the next couple of days, if not sooner.
