Mac OS X 10.8.2 Released With Facebook Support

NewImage

Mac OS X 10.8.0 was released to the world on July 25, 2012. That’s a mere 56 days ago. Mac OS X 10.8.1 shipped on August 23, 2012 — only 28 days ago. Today, Mac OS X 10.8.2 is available for download from the Mac App Store.

Now, the biggest update to Mac OS X is Facebook integration. Not only will you get notifications from Facebook, but contacts, calendars, and direct posting is now baked right into the OS. The best feature, hands down, is integration with Game Center. It is now possible to play head-to-head with Facebook friends without having to jump through the ridiculous hoops to add them as a friend in the traditional fashion. Facebook users will undoubtedly love this tightly integrated system. Best of all, unlinking your account is very easy, and it will scrub your system clean of any filthy Facebook remains. No need to worry about polluting your contacts permanently.

Other updates include phone number support for iMessages and FaceTime, Power Nap support for 2010 MacBooks Airs, and send-to-Passbook functionality in Safari and Mail. If you want to know all of the nitty gritty details, you can check out the release notes after the jump.
