Lion Server to be separate, paid App Store download?

This document, found in Lion’s Help application and dug up by Hardmac, outlines a new approach to installing Lion Server.

Currently in the developer previews, Server is an optional install, and Apple has previously published that Server would be built into every Client version of Lion. This seems to indicate Apple is taking things in a new direction.

There’s no word on pricing, but Snow Leopard Server runs $499 for an unlimited number of licenses. Up until now, it has remained as a separate OS. If Apple puts Server in the App Store, or leaves it as an optional install, that will be a thing of the past.

With the WWDC keynote just three days away, all of these questions will be resolved soon.
