Mount your iPhone to a tripod with Piquant

iPhones are now pretty great point-and-shoot cameras that have the ability to capture 1080p video. The built-in image stabilization is pretty impressive, but perfectly smooth video is really necessary sometimes. Enter Piquant, a low cost tripod mount for your iPhone created by a teacher in Oakland, CA, named Jin Tsubota.

Here’s how Jin describes the product:

Piquant is a tripod mount that connects an iPhone or smartphone to any standard ¼” threaded tripod. With your support, I will be able to mass produce Piquant, enabling anyone interested in making videos with an easy way of creating steady images. Piquant works with most phones and cases, so anyone with a smartphone can shoot steady video. Piquant is made with the highest quality American-made suction cups, ensuring that your phone will always be secure.

If you’re interested in grabbing your very own Piquant, you’re in luck. The Kickstarter project has just begun, and you have 58 days to pre-order your very own for only $15 USD. It’s very early on, but the minimum goal is only $2,000, so that should be pretty easily accomplished with Kickstarter.

Keep in mind, this mount is designed to work on pretty much any hard, smooth device that is big enough to attach the suction cups to. As long as it is flat and non-rubber, your phone will probably work with Piquant. If this sounds even slightly useful to you, take the time to pledge — it’s only $15. Small projects like this are what makes Kickstarter great.
