Apple releases iTunes Festival London 2011 app that lets you watch the live gigs from your device and on your TV screen

As in the past few years, Apple will hold the iTunes Festival London this year as well. A bunch of popular bands play every night throughout July in London’s The Roundhouse in Camden Town. Tickets are, as every year, free and can be won on the event’s website.

So everything is the same, basically. Except that this year Apple released an official app that lets you watch the gigs live and on demand from everywhere around the world. The app is universal, free to download and can even stream the videos onto your big TV screen using AirPlay.

The 2011 iTunes Festival’s line-up is filled with big names and promises some great live performances we can now enjoy even if we are not able to fly out to London ourselves. All Things D reports that the concert broadcast company Live Nation is responsible for the production of the stream and videos and will also live stream the gigs onto their iOS app, too.

Apple’s app doesn’t just let you watch the gigs once they’re on (“or on demand for a limited period”), but also gives you some background information on the bands, lets you enter the contest to win tickets for the gigs you’re interested in and provides you with the latest news around the festival.
