I wrote an article about some Netflix queue managers a while back. The article must have caught the eye of IQ Lolomo creator Millicomputer. The team over at Millicomputer sent us a free-app code, so I decided I would review it.
IQ Lolomo will manage one specific aspect of your Netflix queue, the instant queue. Although the design of the application is just a bunch of table views, it does pack quite a bit within the application.
Other than just being able to add any item you search for to your queue, IQ Lolomo allows you to browse up to 100 items, the Netflix imposed limit, in any of their 22 categories, including Conspiracy Thrillers, Dark Documentaries, Foreign Films, and new arrivals.
One of the cooler features of IQ is that when you do search for a title you may see the additional information shown in red. This could mean one of two things, either the item is set to no longer be available via streaming within the next month, or there is no date for expiration saved. This information will allow you to determine how quickly you’ll want to actually watch the video.
There are a couple of minor issues. The first is the basic views. While the application works well, it is not the most visually appealing queue manager. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but it is a drawback.
The bigger issue is that the navigation is a bit hard to manage at first. Until about 10 minutes before submitting this article I didn’t know that you could actually manage the position of the queue. There is an icon in the upper right corner of the navigation bar that provides extra features; as shown in the image below.
Overall it’s not a bad application. It does what is expected, and you gain access to the information you desire. Some navigation is a bit tricky, but after you acclimate yourself to the way things work, it’s not that bad. You can obtain your copy from the App Store for $0.99.
