SimCity Offline Mode Is Finally Here

It’s here! It’s here! It’s finally here! In a blog post published Tuesday, EA announced that you can now officially play SimCity without an Internet connection. Prior to this, you needed to be connected to the Internet in order to play—even if you wanted to play by yourself.

Of course, the new offline mode comes with some limitations: You won’t be able to use the multiplayer features (obviously), you won’t have access to leaderboards or achievements, and you won’t be able to use the game’s “Cloud Save” feature.

On the other hand, you can add as many cities as you want to a region, you can save multiple versions of a region through the new “Save As” feature, and you can save your regions you own hard drive. What a concept! :O Offline mode also allows for more customization than online mode—a welcome addition for SimCity wonks like myself.

The new single-player mode requires SImCity Update 10 or later in order to work, so be sure to pop open SimCity and grab the latest update. And take a look at the FAQ for answers to your burning questions.
