PopCap celebrates 30m Peggle players with HD version while Bejeweled 2 goes free

Plink plonk. That’s the sound of 30 million people playing PopCap’s Peggle across all platforms. Released back in 2009, Peggle managed to replicate its PC success on iOS, racking up a ludicrous amount of downloads (myself included). To celebrate the monumental landmark, Popcap has released an iPad native HD version.

Including achievements, Game Center functionality and the ability to in-app purchase the expansion, Peggle Nights, Peggle HD is available for $2.99 (Nights will cost you $1.99). Move quickly though — those prices are for a limited time only and they’ll rise to $4.99 and $1.99 respectively.

For something even more addictive, Popcap has also made its match-3-gems behemoth, Bejeweled 2 + Blitz, completely free. There’s no reason why, although it could be a tie-in with the above Peggle announcement. That said, do you really need an excuse for awesome free games?
