Apparently $1 Billion Isn’t Good Enough, Apple Now Wants $3 Billion In Damages From Samsung

We already know that a jury has awarded Apple $1 billion in damages in the Samsung versus Apple case, but according to recent news on the street, Apple’s lawyers are getting ready to ask the judge for at least $3 billion USD in damages.

From the Korean Times:

By using that condition, Apple has decided to request the judge to order Samsung to pay more than $3 billion in the hearing on the San Jose verdict on Sept. 21 in California,’’ one senior legal executive, who asked to be quoted as a “reliable source” … Apple lawyers still believe Samsung should pull its popular Galaxy line of devices including smartphones and tablets from the United States and leave the market to proprietary handsets from Apple and Microsoft,’’ said another legal source, who didn’t want to be named as he wasn’t authorized to officially speak to the media.

Just when we were hoping to never hear any more on the lawsuit between Apple and Samsung, this doozy hits the newswire. I’m not a lawyer, so I have no idea how Apple can ask for more in damages when a jury already found that Samsung was on the hook for $1 billion in damages. Still, seems a bit asinine to me.

Apple and Samsung continue to fight it out in courtrooms around the globe, and it’s pretty evident that we won’t be seeing a conclusion, hell, a denouement, to this play well into the future at this point.
